Sunset down the river
There is nothing like the thudding of your feet on an old wooden bridge
This gum tree must be at least 500 years old
I don’t walk down this path anymore. Two weeks ago I almost stepped on a brown snake – they’re out early this year.

Wow. Great post. And nice little cover of Many Rivers to Cross. I’m an aussie living abroad and enjoyed this post..ahh….

Glad you enjoyed the pics Daniel! I spent a couple of months overseas earlier in the year and you do get a bit homesick for photos and places like this don’t you? I hope you’re enjoying your time away. I post pics like this every now and then, so feel free to stop by again next time you need another dose!

There are definitely worse places to live. I can rattle off a few if you like…
I’m still looking for my first snake, even going so far as to wander around in snake friendly areas. No luck. Think the Aussie killer snake thing is a myth designed to scare potential immigrants away.

If you’d seen the same snake I saw – with its head raised and shifting slyly back and forth as it eyed my exposed ankles – you may be convinced to be a little less cavalier!

My brother was bitten by a redbelly (admittedly harmless but still scary) at Tweed Heads this weekend. He was wandering around in long grass at about 8pm in the evening with no shoes on. What kind of a stupid kid does that? One that grew up in inner Sydney, fyi ;p

Ahh city kids… he’s lucky that’s the only thing that bit him – hopefully he won’t make the same mistake again!

Lord these photos are lovely. Remind me of living in the Monaro. I came back to Australia, left my family overseas and came back for photos like this. Oh and AFM…you want snakes? Ours should be out soon. We didn’t catch him last year….

They are gorgeous aren’t they? It helps to have good subject material. There is something special about the Aussie bush isn’t there? There’s nothing else quite like it.
