Thanks Captain Obvious: Futurebirds – Hampton’s Lullaby

Futurebirds hail from Athens, Georgia and have only been playing together for a couple of years, giving them a fresh and slightly rough-around-the-edges sound that always makes for top listening in my book. They describe themselves as ‘psychedelic country’ and for some reason I just love that term.

I haven’t heard the whole of Futurebirds Hampton’s Lullaby but I LOVE ‘Johnny Utah’ and the pedal steel and banjo in ‘Battle For Rome’ is magnificent. Love, love, love.

Battle For Rome – Futurebirds

Hampton’s Lullaby is available for $9.99 as a digital download or in CD form for $12. You can also visit bandcamp to check out their gorgeous FREE 6 track EP, released in March last year – highlights for me include ‘Megachills’ and ‘MJB’.
