Four tracks from Oz for you this fine (yet bloody chilly!) evening. I came across this tune by The Ravenous while trawling through Triple J Unearthed – it’s all moody and meandering and I can’t get enough of it.

Hurricanes and Fireworks – The Ravenous

You can hear more from this Melbourne trio here on their Unearthed artist page – they have two other songs available for free download, including the rather romantically titled ‘You Look Good (In A Hoodie)’. Hot.

The Honey Pies are a four-piece from Adelaide and have a cool vintage sound, heavy on the guitar and driven by peppy drum beats. Visit their Unearthed artist page for more free downloads.

Fool in Love – The Honey Pies

Brisbane’s Hungry Kids Of Hungary (that name is still all kinds of weird) keep doing their retro poppy thing on this first listen off their debut full-length Eat Your Heart Out, due for release later this year.

Wristwatch – Hungry Kids Of Hungary

Lastly, festival favourites The Cat Empire have a new album Cinema set for release at the end of June. This first taste isn’t doing it for me at all really, but there might be something in it that you like – feel free to disagree with me in the comments!
