The Kransky Sisters are matriarch Mourne, sidekick Eve and the much maligned Dawn, who joined the family band when her elder sister Arva Kransky ran off with a member of the Hornbell Military Marching Band. They are consumate storytellers who complement their oddball tales with strangely relevant covers of songs they’ve heard on the wireless, using a variety of instruments including a guitar, tuba, a 60s reed keyboard, a flat saw, tambourines and my personal favourite, the humble toilet brush.
I was lucky enough to catch them live earlier in the week, and they put on one hell of an entertaining show. In my experience you either love or hate this gothic, slightly macabre trio (my sisters were appalled when they heard I was going to see them as they find them quite disturbing) but I think they’re hilarious.

Oh my my my my my……I have not heard of these guys/gals? before and they are astonishing. And BRILLIANT!!!!!
(oh and we hate Glen Davies :-(…..)
hahahahahahahaha
They’re certainly odd. I think they would be entertaining live, though.
Ariza – I used to think they were guys, but they are women, albeit slightly scary ones! They’re very clever too – the way that they weave the songs and stories together is fantastic, the humour is dry and droll and there’s a lot of physical comedy too – while setting up their gear, they had me in stiches before they’d even said anything! Well worth a look.
AFM – They’re absolutely hysterical live, and these videos, while great, don’t do them justice really.
They are a joy
They certainly are! I’d see ’em again tonight if I could.
Hi, they are fantastic!
We have seen them on your trip through Australia in August in the Opera of Sydney. Even though we didnt get all their funny hidden jokes, we enjoyed their show very much.
I like dry/black humour and their creative use of “musical instruments”.
Life is macabre sometimes and we should be able to laugh about it… otherwise we could break into tears every single minute… ;o))
Cheers from Germany
Hi Gabi – I’m so glad you enjoyed the show! And you are right, it’s better to laugh than it is to cry – I like your attitude!
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoyed your trip to Australia also.
Cheers!
Oh my God! That was hilarious. Thanks a lot. If it wasn’t for the internet we’d never get to know about stuff like this – so thanks for posting it. I actually laughed tears!
The internet is a wonderful thing isn’t it! So glad you enjoyed the post. I’m not sure where you live, but if you ever get the chance to see them live, make sure you take it! Head over to youtube as well, there are tons more videos to see, and thanks for stopping by!
