I’m not too flash at reviewing albums so I’m not going to do a lengthy spiel on any of these, but I did want to get this in before the year was gone. These are the albums that have inspired and delighted me throughout the last 12 months and for regular readers I doubt there’ll be any great surprises. I couldn’t help but give you my number two albums of the year, but the rest are in alphabetical order by artist and are all worth your hard earned cash. Enjoy!

The best of the best:

1. Sigur Ros Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust

2. Frightened Rabbit The Midnight Organ Fight

And the best of the rest:

DeVotchKa A Mad and Faithful Telling
Fleet Foxes Fleet Foxes
Horse Feathers House With No Home
Los Campesinos! Hold On Now, Youngster
Mates Of State The Re-Arranger
MGMT Oracular Spectacular
The Mountain Goats Heretic Pride
Okkervil River The Stand Ins

Some pre-2008 albums that I’ve loved this year:

Band Of Horses Cease To Begin
Hello Saferide Introducing…Hello Saferide
The National Alligator
The National Boxer
Okkervil River Black Sheep Boy
Okkervil River The Stage Names
Regina Spektor Begin To Hope
Sigur Ros Agaetis Byrjun
Sigur Ros Hvarf/Heim
Sigur Ros Takk
Sleeping At Last Keep No Score

Not a bad year all round, and I’m still catching up with all the goodness that I didn’t get around to, so no doubt next year’s listening will make up a good portion of all the stuff I missed out on this year!

I will leave you with a little taste of my listening over the last few days. Until we meet again…

Use Somebody – Kings Of Leon

Going To The Casino (Tomorrow Night) – Philidelphia Grand Jury

Animal – Against Me!

The Rejection Letter – The Strugglers
