I reckon you’ve gotta be a raving lunatic to cover Regina Spektor. She’s pretty unique and also seems to be held in fairly high regard in the blog world (even this place is named after one of her songs) so I guess you’ve gotta be pretty confident that you can pull it off.

Dashboard Confessional do a pretty sweet acoustic¬†cover of ‘Better’ and it’s cool to hear a male version, complete with throaty vocals. The strings are nice too.

Same goes for covering Neutral Milk Hotel (ugh, hate that name). You’ve gotta be bonkers to attempt it. Luckily, this version by The Chairs makes the grade. I really love the drum intro and the quiet wailing thing they’ve got going on in the first half of the track, before the drums kick in again and the intensity builds.

You all know this one, and you either love it or hate it. This audience obviously love it. I don’t mind it myself.

Don’t Stop Believin’ (Live Journey Cover) – Badly Drawn Boy

Aussie movie ‘Strictly Ballroom’ introduced me to Doris Day’s ‘Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps’. This version is less ballroom and more surfer chick. Fast paced and well suited to a wave riding montage. Or maybe I’m just speaking rubbish. It’s interesting…check it out.
