Well, I never thought this day would come, but here it bloody is. I like a Nick Cave song.
Correction. Love it.
I’m only 11 years late to the party…
Come sail your ships around me
And burn your bridges down
We make a little history, baby
Every time you come around
Come loose your dogs upon me
And let your hair hang down
You are a little mystery to me
Every time you come around
We talk about it all night long
We define our moral ground
But when I crawl into your arms
Everything comes tumbling down
The Ship Song – Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

That is one of my favorite songs. You should check out The Train Song. Another beautiful ballad by Nick Cave. Foi Na Cruz, too.
Adding them to the list!
Ah, strange but true, Nick often gets to you in the end! And ‘The Ship Song’ is often the one that does it. My long time favourites are ‘Straight to You’ and ‘Brompton Oratory’ – well worth giving a spin.
‘The Ship Song’ (which apparently is The SHOP Song when I type it out!) is an Australian classic, there’s no doubt about it. And, yes, ‘Straight To You’ is wondeful too. ‘Carry Me’, a more recent song, shouldn’t be forgotten either.
The entire murder ballads album is remarkable…!
