A super quick post on my way out the door this fine and sunny Saturday morning.
The Raveonettes are an electro pop type duo, (though there’s a definite edge to their poppiness*, it has to be said) and the total opposite of my current folk/alt-country leanings but despite this I’ve found myself giving one track in particular a lot of play these past couple of weeks.
It was the lyrics that caught my attention first, and there’s something about the beat and the ‘do it again… do it again’ part that keeps me coming back for more.
As I said, it’s the total opposite of what I usually like these days but it’s doing it for me nonetheless.
*And no, I don’t think poppiness is a word.
You should check out more of The Raveonettes. Marvellous boy-girl combo. This is a wee bit different from some of the older material, but I’m with you in thinking its wonderful
They’re clever, the Raveonettes. But they started a ruckus a wee while back (albeit inadvertantly) when their label went nuts on any blogger who had ever posted their music. Here’s hoping you avoid that pleasantness.
Thanks JC – I’ve picked up a couple more tracks these last few days and I’m liking what I’m hearing.
And thanks heaps AFM for the heads up there – loads of blogs are posting them at the moment and they seem to be getting away with it so perhaps they’ve given up and decided to embrace their popularity instead of hassling people. I’m just hoping I’m too small a blog for them to notice me!
